Taylorsville Lake is a 3,050-acre lake that is known for water skiing, fishing, and its wild life. The lake if very underdeveloped with most of the shore line belonging to the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

The Corps Office, Visitor Center, and Overlook is the best place to gather information on local events, maps, and it offers an amazing view of the lake/dam.

The reservoir was flooded in 1975 with much of the old timber still standing and providing an ideal environment for fish. Major fish species in the lake are largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, white crappie, black crappie, channel catfish, blue catfish, and freshwater drum perch.

Taylorsville Lake Tailwater Access is a park behind the Taylorsville Dam where the water from the lake is released into Salt River. This park in the middle of a deep valley provides access to picnic areas, hiking trails, and a picnic pavilion. The shade of the valley makes it a great place to cool off in the summer and a popular fishing spot.
